Updated: Tue 10:01 AM, Dec 04, 2012

RICHMOND, Ky. (WYMT) - Hundreds of college students had be evacuated from their dorm Monday after a refrigerator sparked a scare.

Police evacuated Palmer Hall on the Eastern Kentucky University Campus in Richmond late Monday afternoon.

EKU leaders tell us a residence hall staff member found a small refrigerator, covered in duct tape, with a note on it.

The staff member called police, who then called the state police bomb squad to investigate.

Students who live in the dorm say this caused some tense moments for them.

Investigators eventually opened the refrigerator, they say they did not find anything threatening inside only some rotten food.

The all clear was given and students are back inside the dorm now.
