FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- Students at one Eastern Kentucky elementary school got a chance to explore a number of career opportunities Friday.

It was all a part of Osborne Elementary School’s Career Day!

Teachers brought in a number of people from various career fields around the community, including right here at WYMT.

Principal Dale Pack says it is important to expose kids to different options to help them get college and career ready.

“A lot of our jobs have been coal related and unfortunately those jobs are being done away with. As a result, we need to prepare our kids for whatever future they might want or might become available in our area,” Pack said.

“I want to be a veterinarian, because I love animals. I don’t want to do it for the money, I just want to do it for the animals,” Osborne Elementary School 2nd grader Chloe Hall said.

School leaders are looking at possibly expanding Career Day to twice a year in the future.
