Two EMS ambulance drivers witnessed a vehicle run off the road and hit a tree in Letcher County.

It happened on KY 805 in the Haymond community on Saturday afternoon.

19-year-old Jimmy Woods of Burdine was driving the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Two female EMTs with Neon Fire and Rescue say they saw Woods lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then went off the east bound shoulder and collided with a tree.

The two women say they rushed to the scene moments later.

22-year-old Whitney Griffin of McRoberts was a passenger in the vehicle.

Both Griffin and Woods were pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher County Coroners Office.

No seat belts were in use.

The collision is under investigation by state police in Hazard.
