EQT headquarters is on schedule

Pike County officials say EQT's drilling suspension in eastern Kentucky will not affect the EQT headquarters being built in Pike County.

Last week, EQT suspended new drilling operations in the area due to falling natural gas prices.

Thirty-nine jobs are being transferred from Pike County to other states.

However, county officials say the construction on the new EQT headquarters at Scott Fork is on schedule and EQT will still have 200 new jobs at the plant.

“They're moving in by the first of the month. Their personnel will be brought from other areas. They also will be hiring those additional people,” Pike County Judge Executive Wayne T. Rutherford said.

Rutherford says EQT has to hire new people at the headquarters to get two and a half million dollars in state tax breaks.
