Early morning run benefits Perry Co. scholarships

Chavies, Ky. (WYMT)-- People gathered to run in the fog Saturday morning.

It was part of the annual Cam-Run 5K and 10K.

"We just hope it keeps growing, said race director Michael Smith. "When students go off to school and there's a financial situation, a lot of times they come home, and we want to try to help that."

Cameron Hoskins died in 2009.

The scholarship helps Perry County student athletes.

"Cameron Hoskins was an athlete to the core. He was so competitive," said Smith.

The event also held a race to determine "the fastest kid in town."
