East Tennessee teen dies one month after ATV crash

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tn. (WYMT/WVLT)-- Trinity Henegar, the teen injured in an ATV accident last month, died from his injuries Sunday afternoon.

Henegar had been in intensive care since the accident on August 13th.

"He was on a ventilator and he was sedated, and then yesterday during another episode he had a massive heart attack," Trinity's mother Millie Henegar said. "The family was called in, each one of us said our goodbyes and I was able to hold my baby while he drew his last breath."

His parents Millie and Jimmy Henegar describe their son as a joy to be around. They said he was an ambitous young man who had already set out to achieve his dreams.

"Trinity was shooting for an ROTC Scholarship," Millie said. "He wanted to go to either Vanderbuilt or Virginia Tech. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and was shooting for it."

It's a pain the Henegars say no parent should have to experience. But they've been able to cope thanks to the outpouring of support.

More than 3,000 people joined the Facebook Page "Prayers for Trinity Henegar.' Millie said it was created to let the community know of his progress.

His parents now plan to create a scholarship in Trinity's name, something they say is fitting for a young man who enjoyed helping others.

"It hurts me that I can't see him grow into a man," Trinity's dad Jimmy Henegar said. "But we know where he is, and God got one good angel Sunday."

No funeral arrangements have been made yet.
