Eastern Kentucky educator honored at the White House

An Eastern Kentucky educator got a big honor Tuesday night at the White House.

Kevin Gay, the principal at Leslie County High School in Hyden, was recognized as a Champion of Change by President Obama.

The initiative highlights people who officials say are doing extraordinary things in their community.

One of Gay's accomplishments since taking over as principal at LCHS was to take the once low performing school to 16th on the state's transitional academic index.
