Eastern KY mountain climber drops plan to climb Mount Everest in 2012

An eastern Kentucky mountain climber is dropping plans to climb Mount Everest this year.

Martin Douthitt tells the Lexington Herald he plans to have knee-replacement surgery instead.

The Breathitt County businessman says he still hopes to tackle the world's tallest peak next year if the surgery is a success.

The 67-year old has climbed six of the seven summits, the highest mountain on each of Earth's seven continents.
