Elderly woman recovering following accident in Ashland

ASHLAND, Ky. (WYMT/WSAZ) - An elderly woman was air-lifted to the hospital after being hit by a car in a grocery store parking lot in Ashland.

The accident happened at the Kroger on MLK Jr. Boulevard about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

A witness says that the woman lost her balance and fell after leaving the store. She was then hit by a driver going through the parking lot.

We're told the woman was pinned under the car. Once emergency crews got her out, she was air-lifted to a hospital in Huntington.

No word on the extent of the woman's injuries, but a witness says that the woman's arm and shoulder were run over in the the accident.

The woman's name name has not been released at this time.

Witnesses say the driver of the car was also a senior citizen.
