FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The deadline to apply for the 2012 Kentucky elk hunt drawing has been extended through Wednesday.
The change is being made because an electrical storm Monday interrupted the state's ability to process online application payments. The Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources says its ePay system went down around 8:45 p.m. EDT Monday, leaving some 700 people unable to complete their transactions.
State regulation allows for the application period to be extended if technical problems occur. Applications will now close at 11:59 p.m. EDT Wednesday.
Hunters may apply only online at http://fw.ky.gov . Each application costs $10.
The drawing for an elk permit is open to residents and non-residents.
