Another band of snow will move into the region tonight. That plus temperatures into the lower 20s will create slick spots across the mountains. Additional accumulation of up to a half inch is possible in the valleys, while up to an additional inch is possible on the ridges. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
KNOTT Co., Ky. (WYMT) - Neighbors living in Knott County said for the past eight years Christine Slone served their community as a postmaster.
She worked at the United States Post Office in Fisty and September 6 was her last day.
Due to financial cutbacks Slone is transferring to another location in Perry County.
Friends came together for a surprise party with food, fun and gifts.
Those who organized the event said Slone went above and beyond to help others and this was their way of saying thank you.
Slone said she has done this job for 27 years and enjoys every bit of it.
"I think it helps the people," said Slone. "I think you should help your community. Be involved in the community and this is what you get out of it."
Slone is transferring on September 7.
The postal office in Fisty will remain open with limited hours.
