Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. Keep it locked right here for updates.
LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - A convicted felon is back behind bars in Laurel County, after escaping from a detention facility in Alabama.
43-year-old Terry W. Meyers was serving a two year sentence on felony theft charges when he escaped. Laurel County sheriff's deputies arrested Meyers around 11 p.m. in the Rockholds area of Knox County.
The sheriff says the U.S. Marshals Service asked his department's special response unit for help in capturing the fugitive.
"The guys train on a weekly basis, equipped with the right equipment, and we get asked for our services quite often here in the county and sometimes in occasions like this even out of the county," said Sheriff John Root.
Meyers could go before a Kentucky judge as early as next week before extradition back to Alabama.
