Family receives $140,000 in brutality settlement

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Records show a brutality claim against some Whitley County Sheriff's Deputies was settled for $140,000.

Police say on May 5th, 53 year old Delbert Bray did not stop at a roadblock and tried to get away.

Bray's family claims once he was caught, he was beaten and injured.

Bray has since died from an unrelated illness.

The Kentucky Association of Counties settled the case with his family.

Sheriff Colan Harrell told us earlier this month he disagrees with the settlement and says his deputies told him Bray was injured in a fall on the gravel.
