The family of a man who died after being jailed four days earlier is suing Whitley County.
The lawsuit says the death of Ronald Shannon Lawson from diabetes was unnecessary and preventable.
At the time of his death, Lawson was in the Whitley County Detention Center charged with driving under the influence and possesion of a controlled substance.
The family's attorney says Lawson's treatment was not unusual but part of a pattern of the jail ignoring the medical needs of inmates.
