A family that had gone to the grocery store came home to find their home destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.
The fire happened on Skyview Drive near Lavalette, West Virginia about 10 a.m.
“Everything I had was in that house; family pictures, guns, my son's toys, my dogs,” said homeowner John Hedrick.
No one was injured, but two dogs did die in the fire.
It took approximately 20 minutes for the Green Valley and Ceredo Fire Departments to respond to the fire.
Green Valley VFD Fire Chief Stephen Saunders said the house was fully involved when they arrived.
The fire was in Lavalette VFD's district but they did not respond. Saunders said it was probably a manpower issue and that is why the volunteer fire departments have mutual aid agreements and work together to help each other out.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
