A Laurel County family is remembering a woman killed in the Friday twisters. She was in her mobile home, on Bentley Road, just off Interstate 75, when the storm hit.
Family members say 64-year old Ethel Bentley Pruitt was in the home alone because her family had left to go get some food in town. The storm hit her mobile home just after 7:00pm.
Tuesday all that was left of Pruitt's home, that she grew up in, was concrete blocks. Pruitt's daughter, Connie Simpson, says by the time the family rushed back to the home, it was too late. Pruitt, who was retired from St. Joseph London, was already dead. Connie's sister was nearby, barely alive.
Two of Connie's children were lucky. They could have been with their grandmother. Instead They were hunkered down right up the road in a brick house. On top of her terrible loss, Connie also lost her home nearby and everything in it.
