Arthur Hughes and his wife Virginia have been faced with their fair share of challenges.

"We're taking care of two grandchildren where their mother passed away." says Arthur Hughes.

It seems as if they are about to face another. Firefighters were called to the Hughes residence on Saturday afternoon after getting a call reporting a house fire.

"They got here pretty quick but it still destroyed everything I have in the trailer." he says.

The only thing they saved was their three beds and what lies here on this porch.

"It's just terrible but you know we are together and that's the main thing." Hughes adds.

Hughes says there was only one place where he and his family could go and this place doesn't have the best living conditions for his grandchildren. They are living in a storage trailer with no running water or electricity and they say their biggest concern now is how they will make it through the winter.

Hughes says he is powering his home with a generator but with high gas prices he doesn't know how long he will be able to afford it.

"We don't have much time until it's going to be cold weather and I don't know what we're going to do." says Hughes.

Despite all of these unknowns, the Hughes family is thankful they still have each other.

"I just thank the lord that nobody was injured in this accident." he says.

Hughes says they have received some donations from local churches and family members.
They also said the Red Cross offered them three free nights in a hotel and are looking into some other options for them.
