UPDATE: Father allegedly shoots son in Martin Co.

UPDATE: WYMT has learned that Nathan Maynard has been released from the hospital.

His father, Maynard, Sr., is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detnetion Center on $10,000 cash bond.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Martin County Sheriff’s Office got a call of a shooting on Davella Road at around 5 p.m. on October 6th.

“We arrived, Nathan Maynard was laying on the ground with a shot in his leg,” said Martin County Sheriff Garmon Preece.

Nathan Maynard, junior was then air lifted to St. Mary's hospital in West Virginia.

“His dad Nathan Maynard said he was the one that shot him,” said Preece.

Police are unsure of the reasons of the shooting at this time.

“The son has several different stories and i cannot go into it because it is still under investigation, but the dad has told us different about it, but what caused it we haven't found out yet,” said Preece.

Maynard, senior is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail.
