Drug roundup in Pike County after seven month investigation

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - On November 13, 2013, a detective and officers with the Kentucky State Police, FBI, and Pikeville Police Department conducted a federal drug roundup in Pike County.

The roundup was the result of a seven month joint investigation into the trafficking of heroin in and around Pikeville, Ky.

Investigators were able to indentify local traffickers whom were conspiring with out of state sources to obtain heroin to be brought back to Pike County for distribution.

Officers executed 14 of 15 federal indictment warrants without incidence.

The accused were charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin as well as other distribution charges.

Investigators were assisted during the round up by agents from the FBI, KSP Drug Enforcement/Special Investigation East, KSP Post 9, KSP K-9 East, and the Pikeville Police Department.

Investigators would like to thank the community for the information and tips that they received during this investigation. Without the community's support and cooperation, investigations such as these would be harder to conduct.
