LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) Dozens of new jobs are now available in Eastern Kentucky thanks to a large federal grant.
Officials at the Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation requested the grant in May for a manufacturing initiative.
KHIC President Jerry Rickett says he requested the $800,000 grant.
Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday the grant money will go toward expanding Phillips Diversified Manufacturing facilities in Jackson and Clay counties.
The plant expects to hire 40 new employees and has already begun filling the jobs.
