HYDEN, Ky. (WYMT) - Several festivals will be celebrating a milestone this weekend.
Folks have already started setting up for the 50th annual Mary Breckinridge festival in Hyden, which begins Friday afternoon.
It will also run all day Saturday with a parade at 11:00 p.m. There will also be craft and food booths and a fireworks display.
“It is going to be a good weekend, the whole community has gotten involved,” said Lonnie Hendrix, Mayor of Hyden.
“Everyone has just really excited and everybody is excited about it and we hope to have a great weekend.”
Mary Breckinridge was a nurse who founded the Frontier Nursing Service. She died in 1965.
It is also the 50th anniversary of the Kentucky Apple Festival in Paintsville this weekend.
It is also the 30th Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival is underway in Middlesboro.
