Voting machine malfunction causes a delay in Perry Co. vote totals

Final votes in the Primary Election were not tallied until Wednesday afternoon in Perry County.

A voting machine malfunction at the Walkertown precinct did not allow the clerk's office to count all of the votes on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a court order was issued so they could open the machine up and tally the votes in the final precinct.

Those votes would not have changed the winners of the races, but Perry County Clerk Haven King says it's important that every vote is accounted for.

"We've got men and women dying everyday to give us the freedom to vote, so it's very important that every vote cast is counted. That's the reason we took the action here as the election commission," said King.
