Fire in Knott Co. destroys home

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - One Knott County woman lost her home to a fire Friday.

Officials say the 911 call came in around 12:30 and by the time they arrived on Horseshoe Bend Road, the home was fully-engulfed.

The homeowner was not there when the fire began. She did not want to appear on camera, but said she left for 25 minutes and when she got home, she saw her home in flames.

Multiple fire departments were called to the scene to try and contain the fire.

"At this point we don't know what's happened. All we know is we called in to help our fellow Knott County brothers." Said Sandlick Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Sexton.>

The cause of the fire is not known.
A state fire investigator is expected to be called.
