A house fire claims the life of a dog Thursday night in Perry County.

It happened in the Lost Creek Community.

Officials say the fire started in the bedroom, and it was thankfully contained to only one room.

They say crews got there just in time before the home was completely engulfed.

"I was expecting it to be fully involved. We got here in time and knocked it down real quick and saved the rest of it," said Lost Creek Fire Department Chief Jr. Campbell.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but there were two dogs in the home.

Fire crews rescued one dog, but the other was found inside the bedroom that caught fire.

There is not word on the cause of the fire.
