Dozens of people ran and walked in the First Annual Run For the Hills Charity Challenge in Perry County.
The Community Foundation of Hazard and Perry County will match the donations raised by each charity up to 10,000 dollars.
The money goes to local charities and the housing development alliance and creates an endowment fund for the charities.
The event's goal is to raise money that will strengthen the community.
"We've seen a lot of problems through the years. We've solved a lot of problems. But there's always problems arising and many times part of these problems could be solved with financial help," Danny Maggard, a chairman of the Community Foundation of Hazard and Perry County
Organizers say they hope to make it an annual event that grows each year.
