Barbourville, Ky. Flooding on Sunday caused the under structure of a Knox County driveway to float down a ditch.
"It got up, covered the blacktop," said homeowner Shawn Smith, as he described the flooding. Much of the street near his home was under water, he said.
That water caused a pipe under his driveway, which served as a bridge of sorts between the road and the rest of the driveway, to dislodge and float away.
Smith blamed what he called an unusually wet spring and summer.
"We've had a lot of running water and a lot of backwater this year," he said. "So it's been lots of things going on. Seems like more than normal. Seems like rains just keep coming this year."
Knox County Judge/Executive J.M. Hall said he would send a crew to examine the flood damage Monday.
