Flooding leads to water rescue

Hazard, Ky. Flood waters led to a water rescue Tuesday morning.

"They went in and kept screaming and hollering and finally somebody come to them," said Michael Johnson, who lives nearby. "They wound up packing her out to her car."

While Johnson did not have to be rescued, he has suffered from this flooding before. A car in his back yard was destroyed in a previous flood.

To keep his camper from suffering a similar fate, he towed it to his church. The parking lot did not flood, but the basement did.

When it begins to rain heavily, "we automatically start watching the creek," said Hilda Youmans, whose husband is the pastor at Davidson Baptist Church.

This week's flooding left the basement floor encrusted in mud, though the water has come as high as three feet there in the past.
