LANGLEY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man is accused of shooting another man, then driving him to the hospital.
That is the bizarre twist in a Floyd County death investigation where police say William David Gregory shot and killed Willis Sparks, Jr.
It happened on Henrys Branch in the Langley community. They say their hollow was a quiet one until Thursday night.
"It used to be very safe up here, but it's not anymore due to things like this, I mean, with him," said one anonymous neighbor.
She is talking about William David Gregory who is accused of shooting and killing his neighbor Willis Sparks, Jr.
"I received a call about 10:45 (Thursday) night," said Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson.
The pair supposedly got into a fight, and it escalated.
"After the altercation somehow the gun got involved," said Nelson.
Officials say Gregory shot Sparks in the leg and torso then drove him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Several neighbors who talked to us say they knew it was only a matter of time until something like this happened. They called Gregory a bully and say he was always trying to start something.
"If he gets taken away, which he should, we won't have that anymore. We won't have the danger that he presents," said one neighbor.
And they say Sparks was the opposite, someone you could always count on.
"He would do anything for you. He was never in any trouble that I know of. He was just a, I thought he was just a good person," she said.
They say they hate it happened, but they hope it keeps Gregory away from their homes.
"I don't want him as my neighbor, and I don't want him to live back up here. I hope I never see him again," she said.
Officials say they plan to take the case to the grand jury.
Gregory was also admitted to the hospital for injuries he got during the fight. There is no word on his condition as of Friday afternoon.
