Water woes continue for some folks in Floyd County.

Ricky Handshoe of Hueysville says that an abandoned, underground mine is poisoning the streams near his home!

He says the water's condition has worsened over the years despite his petitions for help.

Ricky Handshoe says he never thought he'd see the day when he had no choice but to buy bottled water.

He says the abandoned mine near his house is collapsing under pressure, causing toxic water to spew out of the opening.

Handshoe says the recent rainfall has diluted the water from its usual rusty orange color, but that doesn't mean it's any less toxic.

Officials are now investigating the true cause of the poisonous water and if the coal mines really are to blame.

Handshoe hopes the streams will soon be safe again for the sake of future generations.
