IVEL, Ky. (WYMT) - Folks across Eastern Kentucky waited in line at some stores for their chance to buy a phone for only a penny!
Appalachian Wireless officials say dozens of people were lined up at several of their locations.
From 7:00 a.m. until noon they sold every phone, except the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, for one penny.
Officials say they opened their doors at 2:00 a.m. last year, but they saw a better response this year with the later time.
"Our corporate headquarters location, we had about 20 people when the door opened at seven this morning there, and some stores had as high as 50," said Director of Marketing Danny VanHoose.
Officials say the penny sale ended at noon, but they are still offering no activation fees for the rest of the month.
