Folks "jailed" for Relay for Life

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Some folks in Hazard, including a few familiar WYMT faces, spent the day in "jail" to raise money for cancer research.

The Perry County Relay for Life "jail and bail" took place Friday morning outside the Hazard Walmart. WYMT's own Brandon Robinson and Chas Gayheart volunteered their time. It was all to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

"Today we really haven't set a goal," said Perry relay co-sponsor Bob Turner. "The goal for the relay in general is about $80,000 this year. Last year we were a little over $80,000 so we're hoping that the jail and bail today will help that total come up there."

Organizers say the fundraiser is one of many events leading up to the big relay, which takes place June first at the Perry County Park.
