Football kicks off in the mountains

It's football time in the mountains!

Many high school teams hit the field for the first time tonight.

It's week zero, and the regular football season has started. The fans and cheerleaders are pumped up.

The Perry Central Commodores and the Prestonsburg Blackcats hit the field tonight in Perry County.

Fans for both teams have high expectations for this year's season.

"Our team is like expected to be good this year, and we're just excited to see them play for the first time," said Hayley Mullins, a Perry Central High School cheerleader.

"We're really loaded and really prepared. And I'm just so excited," said Tracie Jamerson, parent of Prestonsburg High School player.

Cheerleaders are getting the fans on their feet this year with a few new cheers.

"Go Commodores!" cheered Perry Central cheerleaders.

"Go Cats! Com'on Cats!" cheered Prestonsburg cheerleaders.

Both teams have one goal.

"We're going to go win all the games this year, and we're definitely going to state, so I have no doubts about that," said Kayla Carroll, a Perry Central High School cheerleader.

"That's our goal to win," said Jamerson.

Fans on both teams say they are anticipating a great season.
