GRAY, Ky (WYMT) - A Knox County man was indicted for allegedly stealing packages containing prescription medication from the post office he worked for.
A special agent from the office of inspector general says the investigation started in February when they started receiving complaints from veterans in Knox County who never received their parcels from the Veteran's Administration.
A federal indictment was returned last week charging Arnold Wayne Bingham with one count of theft of mail matter.
"We put our trust in these people to make sure we get our mail," said Michael Spradlin who is a veteran.
He says he relies on the postal service to ship his medication from the Veteran's Administration in Lexington to the post office in Gray, Kentucky.
"All my medication comes from the V.A. and it's mailed to me, and I would come down to get my medication and it wouldn't be here," said Spradlin.
He says the packages were always traced to the post office in Gray, but his medicine was never there.
After an investigation, Bingham was indicted for allegedly stealing DVDs from Netflix and Blockbuster and drug parcels from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Officials say Bingham no longer works for the postal service.
He is facing up to five years in prison.
Bingham will be arraigned in London Federal Court on December 3rd.
