Former Mingo County, W. Va Magistrate sentenced to 27 months in prison

Mingo County, West Virginia - A former Mingo County, West Virginia magistrate will spend more than a year in prison.

Former Mingo County Chief Magistrate Dallas Toler was sentenced to 27 months in prison for election fraud.

The sentence is much longer than the guidelines suggested for the crime.

The judge handed the longer sentence down because he wants to prevent future fraud in Mingo County.

Toler pleaded guilty to election fraud in December.

Officials say Toler faked a voter registration application during the 2012 primary election for a convicted felon.

Toler is the second Mingo County official to be sentenced in a large corruption case.
