Former magistrate faces burglary & theft charges

JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - A former Breathitt County magistrate who was convicted on federal vote buying charges now faces burglary and theft charges.

The indictment against Michael Salyers alleges that he entered the city of Jackson water works plant unlawfully and took or controlled property of the city valued at more than 500 dollars.

He is charged with third degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking.

Salyers posted a $15,000 property bond and will be arraigned on August 24th.
