Former sheriff will serve two years under probation

JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - A former Breathitt County Sheriff will serve two years under probation.

John L. Turner pleaded guilty to vote buying charges earlier this year.

Turner admitted to being involved in a scheme with several other people to buy votes in April and May of 2010.

He faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Former Superintendent Arch Turner is scheduled to be sentenced for his involvement next week.
