The Golden Years Rest Home in Letcher County has had a history of problems and recently was shut down.
But now former employees say there is another problem, they are missing pay from the final weeks of the rest homes existence.
This building used to be the home to many residents, but now it sits empty leaving many people out of a job.
But, it's not their unemployment that these former employees are frustrated with.
"We worked 20 days. I rendered my services for 20 days, for what? For nothing. And now they say we're not getting paid they don't know how we are getting paid," said former employee Kimberly Brewer.
After charges were filed against the former owner, the Attorney General's Office appointed a receiver, but Golden Years was still shut down after the company that was going to buy the home backed out.
The residents were moved out and all the money followed them leaving no money to pay the employees for the last 20 days they worked.
"We were told either the state was going to pay us or when the building was sold we would get paid," said former employee Shelly Mullins.
Linda Bell the receiver did not want to comment, but she says she hopes the employees are paid after the building is sold.
But that's not comforting to the former employees who have not seen any income in almost a month.
"My furniture is already gone, they come and got it. My electric bill, I owed a little bit on that, I had to come up with $50 to pay on it or they would cut it off," said Mullins.
They say they feel victimized and used, and only want one thing.
"I just want to get paid," said another former employee.
If they do not see their money, they say they will look into hiring an attorney.
Officials with The Attorney General's office say they have no role in this moving forward, and that the receiver Linda Bell was acting on behalf of Golden Year's Inc. and under the court's guidance.
They say Golden Years has no money, only assets, which is the building. They hope it sells quickly because employee pay is a priority.
