Once a national champion as a college football player and a successful professional football player, Devon McDonald now works with
Sportsworld, an organization of former professional athletes that speaks to youth and adults across the country about making good life choices.

"That's what we want to present. There are other choices to the choices people have been making. Johnson County in particular has had some drug problems, and we just wanna offer another choice," said Pastor Dan Heaberlin.

McDonald has been speaking to schools around Johnson County delivering his message of hope.

"It's choices, that you're not born a winner or a loser, but you're born a chooser. And no matter what age you are, you can still make changes," said McDonald.

McDonald also delivered a message at the newly renovated Sipp theater in downtown Paintsville geared toward adults.

"At whatever age you are, you can make changes, and don't ever think it's too late. When it's too late is when you take your last breath. As long as there's breath, there's hope."

Sportsworld was founded 32 years ago by former NFL chaplain Dr. Ira Lee Eshelman.
