Former University of the Cumberlands wrestler is found guilty of lesser charge

A former University of the Cumberlands wrestler has been found guilty on a lesser charge in an attempt to rape case.

The Times Tribune reports a Whitley County jury returned the guilty verdict against Carlton Thompson on one third degree criminal mischief charge which only carries a $250 fine.

In October of last year, he was indicted on unlawful imprisonment and attempt to rape charges.

His girlfriend told police that in September 2011 Carlton forced her into his vehicle and ordered her to take off her clothes.

She says he then ripped off her clothes and tied her up with a TV cable.
