A southern Kentucky native that was well known in Kentucky political circles has died.
Janie Catron died yesterday at UK Hospital.
Catron was a registered nurse and also worked as a field representative for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell for 10 years.
Everyone who knew her says she was a motivated woman with a passion for the mountains.
"She was well received here. Obviously for the senator, she did a great job representing him. She'll be severely missed," said Senator Brandon Smith.
Catron also appeared as a political analyst several times on WYMT's Issues and Answers program in the 1990s.
There will be a visitation and funeral Tuesday and Wednesday in Lexington.
A visitation in Corbin will be this Thursday starting at 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. at the O'Neill Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
Janie Catron was 72.
