Former sheriff charged in vote buying scheme to plead guilty

A former sheriff, charged in a vote buying scandal in Breathitt County, will plead guilty.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports attorneys for John L. Turner filed a motion Wednesday in federal court seeking a hearing for him to enter his plea.

Turner, along with former Breathitt County Schools Superintendent Arch Turner and others, are accused of buying votes in the May 2010 primary election.

No word on when the hearing will be held.

Arch Turner's trial is scheduled to start July 30th.
