Former sheriff will plead guilty in vote buying scandal

A former sheriff, charged in a vote buying scandal in Breathitt County, will plead guilty.

The attorney for John L. Turner filed a motion Wednesday in federal court seeking a hearing for him to enter the plea.

Turner, along with former Breathitt County School Superintendent Arch Turner and others, are accused of buying votes in the May 2010 primary election.

No word on when the hearing will be held.

Arch Turner's trial is scheduled to start July 30th.

When asked if John L. Turner would testify against the former school leader, John Turner's attorney declined to comment.
