FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) - More than 400 people turned out at Fort Knox to commemorate and honor military troops past and present.
The ceremony Monday at the central Kentucky military post paid tribute to late Pfc. David P. Nash. Nash was a native Kentuckian who grew up in Whitesville and Medal of Honor recipient.
While serving in Vietnam in 1968, Nash rolled onto an exploding grenade, sacrificing himself and saving the lives of three fellow soldiers.
About 100 members of his family attended the service.
