WISE, Va. (WYMT/Bristol Herald Courier) - Four emergency medical service agencies in nearby Southwest Virginia have some new machines, thanks to a local hospital.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute donated EKG machines to the rescue squads in Appalachia and Big Stone Gap along with Friendship and Lifecare ambulance services.

The new machines will allow paramedics to perform scans in the field to send back to the hospital for immediate evaluation.
