LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Four people are in jail after Laurel County Sheriff's Deputies seized pills and several grams of crystal meth Thursday afternoon.
Deputies call Thursday's operation the result of an extensive undercover probe.
"This was a long-term investigation into illegal drug trafficking of crystal meth, and we had quite success yesterday," said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. "We arrested four individuals, charging them with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree, First Offense."
Deputies arrested 52-year old Steven Floyd and 51-year-old Teddy Vaughn, both of London, as well as 59-year-old Joyce Mounce and 42-year-old Shane Begley of East Bernstadt.
All four were arrested during traffic stops. In the vehicles, deputies found 70 grams of crystal meth, 47 hydrocodone pills, and about $3,000 cash.
All four suspects were pulled over and arrested over the course of about three hours Thursday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies tell us they expect federal charges to follow from this investigation.
"We've done the undercover work, everything's been documented, we've made the arrests, and now we have to wait for the court," said Acciardo.
Deputies say Thursday's operation went as smoothly as possible, and all suspects were arrested without incident.
Sheriff's deputies say they have noticed an increase in crystal meth activity in the area. They say they are investigating several other leads.
