LYNCH,Ky.(WYMT)- A four year old lawsuit in Lynch is finally settled.

The Harlan Daily reports the lawsuit challenged two strip mining permits and was designed to protect the city's water system.

The settlement included an alternative water supply to be drilled. Lynch Mayor Johnny Adams says this settlement helps protect the area from mountain top removal mining. Four council members voted to settle and two voted no.
