HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Drug addiction was the topic at the first of a series of free training lectures at Hazard Community and Technical College.
Officials said it was beneficial for those in the criminal justice, healthcare or social services fields. Those who attended heard about the neuro-psychology of addiction. They said it is a subject chosen for a reason.
"Addiction is one of the biggest problems in our community and in communities across America," said Walter Smith, HCTC Criminal Justice Program Coordinator.
"I think it would be hard to find somebody that hasn't had some dealings with addiction on a personal level."
Organizers say another lecture will take place in a few months.
