LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Friends of Coal, a branch of the Kentucky
Coal Association, will be visible to fans attending this weekend's
University of Louisville-University of Kentucky football game in
UK is expecting a sell-out crowd, meaning as many as 70,000
people could be in Commonwealth Stadium, where Friends of Coal will be represented on billboards and video clips on the video
scoreboards, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported (http://bit.ly/p0uytI ).
The group will be the "signature sponsor" of the game.
Kentucky Coal Association President Bill Bissett says Friends of
Coal has paid $85,000 to sponsor three athletics events this year.
He said the other two will be announced later.
Friends of Coal will also present a check to the mining
engineering department at UK to help Kentucky students who want to
enter that program.
