Nearly 1,000 dollars was raised for a woman with cancer in Hazard thanks to her coworkers.
Sandy Smith is a teacher at the Hazard Lions Club Montessori School and was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Smith's coworkers decided to lend a helping hand raising money for Smith by providing five-dollar spaghetti dinners Saturday afternoon.
"God has put us together. We are a union. When one hurts, we all hurt. So if somebody needs help or has a need, we are there to try to help meet that need," said Sabrina Haddix, who works with Smith.
All of the proceeds went directly to Smith to help pay her medical expenses.
