CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - An Eastern Kentucky community remembered four lives Saturday that were lost in a Knox County house fire nearly one week ago.

In the small chapel of Antioch Baptist Church, family members said their goodbyes to Nina Asher and her three little ones, 10-month-old Abigail, 2-year-old Camden and 3-year-old William Gray.

“Today's been one of the most difficult days as far as funeral wise. I've been in a lot of funerals, but this has been a largest,” said Reverend William Cobb.

Nina, her three children, and three others were killed in a house fire earlier this month, which is something her mother, Junice Asher, says she is still coping with.

“It’s like a horrible dream and I’m just waiting to wake up and talk to my daughter and grandbabies and hold them and tell them that I love them. But instead I’m having to bury them when it’s supposed to be the other way around,” said Asher.

The children's father, William Gray, says he is not prepared for a life without his family.

“It’s the worst week of the rest of my life. This Saturday began the worst day for the rest of my life, of the rest of my life,” said Gray.

They say they are taking it one day at a time with the help their faith.

“I know she's in heaven, and I know my babies are in heaven and I'm going to be there too,” said Asher.

They are also thankful for the overwhelming amount of community support the family has received.

“We couldn't have made it without everybody. It's so hard,” said Asher.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

The Knox Funeral Home, Commercial Banks and Hometown Bank is still accepting donations to help with funeral expenses for the Gray and Asher families.

Two other children, Paiten and Briel Cox, and Nina's fiance Jesse Disney, who were also killed in the fire, were laid to rest earlier this week.
